One of the most infamous houses in horror movie history.  If you love movies about haunted houses than no doubt you would recognize this house instantly. 

 

The house was the subject of a best selling book by Jay Anson and also spawns numerous movies. The story is told that a family named The Lutz's purchased and moved into the house shortly after a mass murder had taken place there. They only stayed 28 days and fled in the night in terror claiming the house was haunted. They made some pretty unbelieveable claims as well such as the walls bleeding and flies out of season. 

 

Weather or not you believe the lutz's story one thing that is fact is there was a mass murder that ahd taken place there. On November 13, 1974 Ronald "Butch" DeFeo picked up a shotgun and made his way into the bedrooms of his sleeping family members and shot them all execution style. That night 6 members of the DeFeo family died. He'd shot his father, mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. While a lot of controversy surrounded this case Butch was eventually tried and found guilty of murdering his family. 

 

Is the house haunted? Some say yes others say no. But it has been reported from viable sources that the current owners as well as previous owners who have lived in the house have reported no strange happenings. There is also a huge community of people who believe the haunting, the story that the Lutz's gave was all a hoax.
